Technical assistance for the inspection of metal deck welding on the movable bridge at the Port of Tarragona. The scope of this work involved the following:
- Physical inspection phase (data collection) to determine the condition of welding on the metal deck of the movable bridge.
- The physical inspection phase involved:
- Detailed non-destructive testing to inspect welding likely to have been damaged due to fatigue or likely to cause fatigue damage itself.
- Inspection to determine the remaining thickness of the steel elements of the deck in those areas where clear signs of corrosion are detected.
- Interior inspection of cracked sockets that have reached the wearing course.
- Acquisition of samples of metal elements to characterise the execution class of the steel.
- The physical inspection phase involved:
- Cabinet work/technical office work to present the information obtained during the inspections in the form required by the APT:
- Results
- Definition of indicators
- Drawings showing the data acquired during inspections.
- Etc.
The inspection work was carried out by technicians qualified at level 2 in accordance with UNE EN ISO 9712:2012 and coordinated and supervised by a technician qualified at level 3 per this same standard.
