Branch Railway to Bajo de la Cabezuela
The construction of the access branch railway to Bajo de la Cabezuela, as part of the actions on the Seville-Cádiz High-Speed Line. It will connect the Muelle de la Cabezuela, where the Port Authority has already built a set of tracks for the transport of bulk cargo, with the general railway network.
With an investment of 7.3 million euros, the construction of this new branch railway is being carried out. The SOCOTEC team is in charge of the control of the works, which also include the traffic control, signaling, safety and telecommunications installations.
This new section of the Seville-Cádiz line, located between the Jerez de la Frontera Airport Station and Cádiz, will improve the rail connection and the operation of the Bay of Cádiz. In addition, it will boost the socio-economic development of the province and promote intermodality in transport.

Environmental impact
The project includes an environmental analysis study that considers the environment (climate, geology, hydrology, vegetation, fauna and landscape) and proposes corrective measures to minimize the impact of the work on the Bay of Cádiz, including the restoration of the viaduct area in the Natural Park of the Bay of Cádiz.
The SOCOTEC team, with extensive experience in civil engineering, in works control and surveillance contracts, technical assistance to site management, safety and health coordination and technical inspections of infrastructures, will coordinate the works for the execution of the single track in ballast and RENFE gauge.
This line will be exclusively for freight traffic.
